History

1981 - 1986 The start-up phase for the Bär taillift

1981 Founding of Gerd Bär GmbH in Heilbronn by Gerd Bär. 

1983 Development of the first double-folded, fold-under taillifts.

1984 First export market: Switzerland.

1986 Doubling of production area to 1,420 m2.

1987 - 1992 Bär Ladebordwand becomes Bär Cargolift

1989 Rebuilding of facilities after large fire. Production down for three weeks. Despite this, there was a production increase of around 40 per cent to 2,395 taillifts and a no. 2 position in the German market.

1990 Market-influencing technology with bolted mounting plates and bolted under run bar. 

1991 Relocation to the new 27,000 m2 property. Turnover increase of an additional 50 per cent to 5,400 taillifts.

1992 Bär Ladebordwand becomes Bär Cargolift. Introduction of the cathodic dip coating for all steel assemblies and 24 month warranty. Start of the technical salesmen in Germany. Founding of subsidiary Bär Praha s.r.o. (Czech Republic).

1993 - 1998 International expansion and technical advancement

1994 Introduction of Bär Cargolift Hydfalt with aluminium sliding mechanism. Start of sales in Austria.

1996 Founding of subsidiary Bär Cargolift Polska Sp. z o.o. (Poland).

1998 Founding of subsidiary Bär Cargolift UK Ltd (United Kingdom). Start of sales of 2-cylinder products. Market introduction of BC 2000S4U with mechanically folding under run bar. Internet Shop for spare parts.

1999 - 2004 Further expansion of production

2000 Acquisition and standardisation of electrical interface between truck and lifting platforms together with the members of VDHH and European truck manufacturers. 10,000 Cargolifts in one year achieved for the first time. Salesman in Austria.

2002 Entry of Tobias Bär. Start of the planned generation change. Introduction of 2=4 technology with compensation mechanism.

2004 Hall expansion for in-house platform production and enlargement of Cargolift lifting mechanism installation. French market entry with salesmen.

2005 - 2009 European market player from long-standing Heilbronn location

2006 Development of the FreeAccess series. Founding of subsidiary Bär Cargolift España S.L. (Spain).

2007 Generation change concluded - Tobias Bär assumes company management. Further expansion of production area to 9,000 m2. Roughly 14,500 Cargolifts for the first time in one year.

2008 Hungarian market entry with salesman.

2009 Founding of subsidiary Bär Cargolift RUS OOO (Russia). Direct sales in the United Kingdom and Spain after shutdown of subsidiaries.

Since 2010 on the way to the next generation Cargolift

2010 Salesman in BeNeLux.

2011 On its 30-year company anniversary Bär employs a staff of around 280 employees and exports Cargolifts to more than 25 countries.

2012 "Bär Cargolift - the next generation" with the CargoWarn overload indicator, the Bär SmartControl smart phone remote control, the Bär CargoCheck diagnostics and service software and the Bär CargoApp. Swedish market entry with salesmen.

2013 Salesmen in Denmark.

2014 Lifting Performance. With innovations like the further development of the BAplan platform system and the new high-pressure technology, Bär Cargolift has improved the performance of its taillifts.

Bär Cargolift is one of the largest manufacturers of taillifts in Europe. Bär offers Cargolifts for all applications and vehicle categories with working loads from 500 to 3000 kilograms: Standard taillifts, single or double folded retractable taillifts and the FreeAccess Vanlift. All products are manufactured in-house at the company's main facility in Heilbronn, where the first Bär taillift was designed and manufactured by Gerd Bär over 30 years ago.
